Kerry Stumps for Kids Health Care: Visits Texas

Keeping the heat on President Bush, who's own state of Texas has the second highest total of uninsured children, Kerry continued his quest to push for the Kids Come First Act. Under the Bill, pending in the Senate Finance Committee, the federal government would pay all Medicaid costs for anyone under 21 in a family at or below poverty - an annual income of about $16,000 for a family of four.

In his comments to a large gathering of supporters Kerry also criticized Bush and Republicans on a number of other issues, including their questionable practice of using religion for political gain. Read Article

Kerry said the United States needs to look at environmental issues as a debate about health and well-being. Kerry also criticized Bush's approach to the Iraq war and his tendency to mix faith and politics.
