Swift Boat Vets Should Apologize to Kerry: Newly Released Documents Further Discredit Their Claims

Now that all of John Kerry's Vietnam records are public after he signed form 180, it should be clearly noted how NOT ONE claim of the Swift Boat Vets has been proven true by these new documents.

In fact some of the same men who were criticizing Kerry are on record commending Kerry's Service.

Furthermore, while some second guess Kerry for not releasing the records during the campaign, it should be noted he released all relevant information and was under no obligation to release these remaining records.

Asked why he delayed signing the form for so long, Kerry said in a written response: "The call for me to sign a 180 form came from the same partisan operatives who were lying about my record on a daily basis on the Web and in the right-wing media. Even though the media was discrediting them, they continued to lie. I felt strongly that we shouldn't kowtow to them and their attempts to drag their lies out." (From the Boston Globe)

If these Anti Kerry, Republican backed, vets had any honor they would apologize for their misleading and deceptive "opinions" which they passed off as fact. They should vow not to repeat or resurrect any of these bogus claims in the future.

Will they accept responsibility for their lies and do the right thing?

The Standard Form 180 could release 'the full military and medical records.' Or it could release just a few. It all depends on how it is filled out and where it was sent."

"There is nothing magic about signing a SF 180," said former Naval Judge Advocate General Mark Sullivan. "It is sort of like your checkbook. You can fill out a check for one dollar or a million. It is the same check form."

"And the Globe story says Kerry sent it to the Navy Personnel Command, which is only a limited storage location. So it is not surprising that the Globe then notes that what they received was largely 'duplication' of records previously released. The Navy Personnel Command primarily stores a subset of service records rather than a person's full military records. There is no doubt there are a lot of after-action records missing from what Kerry has released," said Sullivan.

Where's Bush's 180?

The matter is over. Kerry is vindicated, and the swift boat liers can crawl back in their holes.

Every one of them should release their records and sign form 180.

They're the ones with something to hide.

Kerry is not vindicated! You are the people who tried to paint the Swift Boat Vets as liars and now it seems that they were right! Kerry is hiding something. Let's have his SF180 submitted to the Navy agency where all his records are released. You say that the Swift Boat Vets have something to hide? What? Stop trying to deflect the attention away from Kerry the liar. We've got you this time!

What does the SF180 of Bush or the Swift Boat Vets have to do with this? Kerry lied, and the release of those records will prove it. Your blind hatred of George Bush is deflecting from finding out about the truth of Kerry's lies! Believe me, the longer Kerry remains in the political spotlight, the truth will come out. I can't wait to hear your response!

The truth HAS come out. No matter how many times you repeat your lies that still won't change the fact that Kerry served with distinction and the swift boat vets are have no honor, for distorting the truth for political reasons.

I met the men who actually served on Kerry's boat, not the ones who appeared in the TV ads saying they "served with Kerry", which actually meant they were in Vietnam at the same time. What a distortion!!! Every man who Kerry commanded attested to his courage, bravery, and leadership.

Kerry should get a legal team to go after they liars.

I don't know who you are Michael or what your agenda is, but take it elsewhere.

They were in boats fighting along side of Kerry's boat and were able to observe what everyone else was doing. In the heat of combat you look to all the guys in all the boats as one group. You and I weren't there so neither of us can say who is telling the truth. But when so many men who were serving along side of Kerry say he was lying and Kerry won't confront them to discuss their accusations then I can only come to one conclusion. Then when we find out that Kerry is cherry picking the Naval documents that are being released, then I am more convinced that Kerry is lying. By the way, what did all these men have to gain by inventing lies about Kerry?

First of all you make many inaccurate statements.

Kerry has confronted the Swift Boat Vets and called them liars and dishonest. There's your answer.

Second, it's funny how you want to rely on second hand witnesses who were not in the boat with Kerry rather than all the men who were. Every one of them backs Kerry's accounts and really has no special reason too either. None of them were on Kerry's paid staff.

Your last statement is another lie being spread. The Navy has released the records it has. Kerry has no control over what they find.

One might question what you have to gain by continuing to spread the lies.

Interesting stuff here.I am interested independent voter (formerly a conservative Democrat--how's that for an oxymoron?)Where have John's records been posted? People should be able to read them and make up their own minds. It's clear Bush left his unit in time of war and was able to cover it up. Kerry served with honor and distinction. Bush got pay stubs; kerry got medals.
