Tue Jan 10, 2006

WASHINGTON (AFP) - US Senator John Kerry will travel next week to Iraq and Afghanistan as part of a 12-day trip to assess progress on the US war on terror, his office announced.

Kerry is traveling to the Middle East "to focus on the steps that must be taken in Iraq and hear from experts in the region about the war in Iraq, the war on terror and the Middle East peace process," his office said.

Kerry's itinerary also includes Pakistan, Jordan, Kuwait,
Israel and India. In addition to military and security issues, he will focus on global health crises and US competitiveness in the global economy.

I’m deeply troubled at some Democrats, unwillingness to give John Kerry at look for 2008. No challenger in US history has defeated an incumbent President during a war. John Kerry came extremely close winning 251 electoral votes and 59 million popular votes. He made the voters give him a serious look after besting a setting President in three debates. I believe he has earned serious consideration.
The issue that concerns many Democrats is the group “Swift Boat Veterans for Truth”, well they don’t concern me! In exit polls very few voters said their allegations were truthful or decisive in determining their vote. The Chicago Tribune, Washington Post and other news organizations have disproved and found inconsistencies in their allegations. Most people care more about issues like Health Care than Vietnam, remember Joe Klein said “Kerry’s health care plan was the only big idea of the campaign.” Another issue people care more about than Vietnam is Iraq. It worries me that some Democrats that voted for the “Iraq resolution” don’t have the guts of Senator Kerry to admit they were wrong. You can’t attack the Republicans over Iraq until you admit to making a mistake. I’ll end with an old story for 2008, it’s about two men sitting in the woods. A grizzly bear approaches and one of the men puts on his shoes. The other man says “You can’t out run the bear.” The other man replies, “I know, but I can out run you.” A loss to a war time GOP incumbent doesn’t mean, you can’t beat anybody.
