Foo Fighters Pay Tribute to Kerry with New Album Title

Foo Fighters frontman Dave Grohl pays tribute to defeated presidential candidate John Kerry with the title of the band's new two-disc album, "In Your Honor," due in June. The title was inspired by campaigning for Kerry, the singer-guitarist says in the new issue of Rolling Stone, but adds, "It's not a political record."

"We'd pull into small towns, and thousands of people would come to be rescued by this man," Grohl, 36, tells the magazine. The Kerry camp returned the compliment in a statement yesterday describing Grohl, the former District punk band drummer who was a member of Nirvana, as a "hero" on the campaign trail who "inspired a record number of young voters" to support the Democratic senator.

Furthermore, spokeswoman Katharine Lister tells us that Kerry, a one-time high school bass player, "is ready to return the favor and go on tour with Dave Grohl and open for the Foo Fighters anytime." Full Article

3. Outlawing the Filibuster, a 200 year old Senate Procedure (so they can appoint extremist Republican Taliban judges)
4. Cutting Social Security Benefits for the Elderly
5. Giving Tax Cuts To Their Rich Donors

Who is responsible for these great ideas which totally disregard the average working American as we struggle to pay our bills and enjoy life as best we can?

I'll give you a hint: A Republican President, A Republican House Majority, and A Republican Senate Majority.

A Feisty Kerry Stands Up to Right Wing Hypocracy

Thank you Kerry for finally saying what millions of Americans have been thinking and discussing for months now - in essence: GOD IS NOT A REPUBLICAN, nor do Republicans act and speak on God's behalf. - IFK Editor

"I am sick and tired of a bunch of people trying to tell me that God wants a bunch of conservative judges on the court and that's why we have to change the rules of the United States Senate," Kerry told a group of Bay State residents who traveled to Capitol Hill for U.S. Rep. Martin Meehan's annual legislative seminar.

"I am sick and tired of (them saying) they somehow have a better understanding of Christianity, of the Judeo-Christian ethic, of values,'' Kerry added. "We're talking about values? New Pope Opposed Kerry in 2004 While Turning Back on Bush's Policies

Watch out American politics! The Catholic Cardinals have just elected a new conservative Pope with a recent history of intervening in US politics, denouncing all candidates who publicly support a woman's right to choose, and going so far as to tell voters they would be "guilty of formal cooperation in evil" if they vote for such a politician.

Denouncing political candidates is one thing, but lets be fair about it. Bush and the majority in the Republican Party support the death penalty and pressed the US into a preventable war in Iraq, both actions opposed by the church. Where was the moral outcry from Cardinal Joseph Ratzinger then? Are Bush supporting Catholics equally guilty of "formal cooperation in evil" by voting for Bush?

I find it questionable for the pillar of God's moral authority here on earth to publicly condemn Kerry for supporting a womans right to choose, while giving Bush and the Republicans a pass on equally important life and death issues. If your mission is to stand up against relativism then do it across the board. Cherry picking one issue is hypocrisy at it's worst. -IFK Editor

German Cardinal Joseph Ratzinger, the Vatican theologian who was elected Pope Benedict XVI, intervened in the 2004 US election campaign ordering bishops to deny communion to abortion rights supporters including presidential candidate John Kerry.

Kerry Stumps for Kids Health Care: Visits Texas

Keeping the heat on President Bush, who's own state of Texas has the second highest total of uninsured children, Kerry continued his quest to push for the Kids Come First Act. Under the Bill, pending in the Senate Finance Committee, the federal government would pay all Medicaid costs for anyone under 21 in a family at or below poverty - an annual income of about $16,000 for a family of four.

In his comments to a large gathering of supporters Kerry also criticized Bush and Republicans on a number of other issues, including their questionable practice of using religion for political gain. Read Article

Kerry said the United States needs to look at environmental issues as a debate about health and well-being. Kerry also criticized Bush's approach to the Iraq war and his tendency to mix faith and politics.

Kerry on a Fundraising Tear

Looking to re-build the Democratic Party and return it to it the majority, Kerry is working fast and furious to raise money for candidates in 2005 and 2006. As I stated post Presidential Election, one test of Kerry's 2008 chances would be whether he could keep his fundraising machine in tact to help his party win in off year elections. Senator's handouts help Dems Kerry on

Sen. John F. Kerry is fast becoming the Democratic Party's personal ATM - dispensing bundles of cash and helping to raise money for party causes and candidates such as Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton.

Kerry's highest voltage money event this spring will be a major fund-raising dinner for Clinton, D-N.Y., a potential 2008 White House rival, at a downtown Boston hotel in early May.

Kerry, meanwhile, also has been busy writing checks.

A few days ago, the failed 2004 Democratic presidential candidate wrote a $500,000 check for Democratic congressional candidates. He backed the check with a pledge to raise another $500,000.

Earlier this year, Kerry gave $1 million to the Democratic National Committee to boost state parties across the country. He also gave $1 million to the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee.

Kerry: Election Reforms Should Be Pushed

BOSTON - All Americans must demand their right to vote and refuse to be intimidated, former Democratic presidential candidate John Kerry told a voters' group Sunday.

"Last year too many people were denied their right to vote, too many who tried to vote were intimidated," the Massachusetts senator said. "There is no magic wand. No one person is going to stand up and suddenly say it's going to change tomorrow. You have to do that."

Kerry supporters charged that voting irregularities in largely Democratic areas made it difficult for voters to cast ballots in the November presidential election. A lawsuit in Ohio cited long lines and a shortage of voting machines in predominantly minority neighborhoods, but the Ohio Supreme Court dismissed the suit.

Kerry, using crutches as he recovers from knee surgery, said the United States should spend less time promoting democracy abroad in countries like Iraq and more time guaranteeing democracy at home.

"We need to go about the business of making our own democracy in America work better," he said, addressing an event sponsored by the Massachusetts League of Women Voters.
